Wild Mullet Fishing Charters: Building a charter fishing brand that knows exactly who it's for

THE CHALLENGE
Wild Mullet Charters is a near shore and offshore fishing operation run by a captain out of Sarasota, Florida. When I started working with Capt. Will he had an outdated un-targeted web presence and no system for handling bookings without a phone call.

The brand's job was to attract the right people, and quietly filter out the wrong fit before they ever booked. In charter fishing, targeting the right customer is paramount. A family that books expecting a deep sea adventure and gets a near shore trip leaves unhappy.

THE APPROACH
The project started interviewing the captain. I need to understanding what trips he loves running, who his best customers have been, and what sets Wild Mullet apart from the dozen other operations working out of Sarasota, Florida.

We determined that his business needed to appeal to three different audiences: families wanting a fun outing, experienced anglers looking for a serious trip, and tourists wanting a memorable local experience. Each group brings different expectations and requires a targeted vocabulary.

The visual direction is warm, approachable, and Floridian. It needs to be enough to for an out-of-state client to trust the booking process, but also unpretentious enough signal that they will get a classic Florida experience.

Brand storytelling centers around the website. Photography is a deliberate mix of professional on-location shots I took alongside authentic customer photos the captain had collected. We wove this messaging through the logo, color palette, and typography so that its shows up in all pysical touchpoints including business cards, stickers, and custom fishing lure packaging.

Carefully constructed copy framed near shore and off-shore trips around the specific species, conditions, and techniques that differentiate them from deep-sea fishing. This helps them stand out as exceptional experiences and reduces bad-fit bookings.

I researched and vetted multiple scheduling platforms before recommending Acuity for its direct Squarespace integration. The booking system lives inside the site with no redirects. Customers can check availability and book a trip in under two minutes.

Deliverables
| Logo and brand identity | Business cards + print collateral | Stickers + merchandise | Website design + copywriting | On-location photography | Acuity scheduling integration

Outcome
Wild Mullet went from a word-of-mouth operation with no digital infrastructure to a fully branded and targeted business with a professional web presence and a direct booking system. Customers book through the site, availability is managed automatically, and the captain spends less time on the phone and more time on the water.
